Before starting Top Hat Cleaning in 2007, I worked in collections and banking. On weekends, I provided housekeeping services to families and enjoyed the change and flexibility so much that I decided to leave the office and start my own cleaning service.
I was passionate about cleaning and knew the challenges of working full-time, being a mom, and the endless effort of keeping a home clean. I wanted to provide a service that would actually clean—one that was reliable, detail-oriented, and left homes truly refreshed. I enjoy seeing the transformation in a space, and even more, I enjoy helping others, volunteering, and working with families to achieve their goal of having a clean home.
I am a mom and a grandmother, and I still do 99% of the cleaning jobs myself. This is more than a business to me—it’s personal. I take care of my family by taking care of yours, and that means I’m deeply invested in the quality of every clean.
Top Hat Cleaning has been in business for over 15 years. We are licensed, insured, and proud to hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. I am incredibly thankful for the many referrals we receive—your trust is what keeps us going.
Over the years, I’ve also volunteered with Cleaning for a Reason, a program that offers free cleaning to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. My connection to this cause is personal—my husband was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, and we lost him in 2017. His illness and passing were sudden and deeply painful for our family. Volunteering gave me a way to give back, but eventually, I stepped away from the formal program to help people more directly, especially those I saw in need but who might not fit into a traditional volunteer structure.
When I’m working and I notice someone who’s struggling—maybe an elderly person or someone who can’t afford the help but clearly needs it—I try to step in. I believe in giving a hand up when it’s needed. That’s what makes me feel useful. That’s what gives this work real meaning.
Outside of cleaning, I volunteer with PAWSITIVELY Loved Rescue Society, helping with foster and adoption applications. I also act as a “flight angel,” traveling to Mexico to bring rescue dogs back to Canada so they can find safe, loving homes. Many of these dogs have been abused or abandoned, and I believe every dog—just like every person—deserves to be seen, loved, and cared for. I’ve adopted two myself and regularly foster. It’s not always easy to let them go, but I know I’m helping them find a better life.
For me, cleaning is not just a job—it’s a way to connect, to give back, and to contribute something meaningful. I take great pride in what I do, and I’m grateful for every client who puts their trust in me. I may not run a large company with dozens of employees, but what sets me apart is that I’m still out there every day—on my hands and knees—scrubbing, cleaning, and making sure everything is just right. Because it matters. And because you matter.
